This was the perfect way to start 2020. Every detail of the gray barn makes it such a peaceful and wonderful retreat. There are games, a cozy fireplace, the beds are comfy, the showers are luxurious, the tasty breakfast. The atmosphere is so peaceful and serene. The tour of the sanctuary was my favorite part of the visit. Meeting Albie whose room we stayed in, Maybel the most cuddly sheep in the world, Olive the grumpy pig roommate of Stanley, and all of the wonderful creatures rescued by these considerate and wonderful caregivers just completely made me feel at peace with the world. We came from Switzerland, another wonderful retreat in the world, but will definitely make it back to this very special place at some point. Highly recommend coming here whether you are vegan or not. You will not regret it. It’s worth every penny.

Magical time at the Gray Barn

This is our second time at the Gray Barn. Our first stay was in July and we enjoyed it so much that we came back in December. Everything was perfect. The scenery from the windows of the Gray Barn in the winter are every bit as beautiful as the summer time. I know we will be back again soon. Being able to spend time with the animals, the cozy atmosphere of the Gray Barn and the amazing breakfast is an experience that is truly magical. Counting the days until our return visit!

A great stay!

The Gray Barn is an absolutely fabulous place to stay for a long weekend. It’s just minutes from Mohonk Mountain House, and the inn is well-kept, clean, and elegant. It blends the feel of a rustic farmhouse with Scandinavian flair. The rooms are cozy but have an airy feeling. We stayed in the Curly Room which is on the second floor and has a balcony overlooking the river and valley. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the common space in the Gray Barn made for plenty of space to stretch out and relax. Leigh was an outstanding host, making a delicious vegan breakfast each morning, and gave us a tour of the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, which the Gray Barn is part of. The Gray Barn is a beautiful place to stay on its own, but its location in the sanctuary makes it truly special. We can’t wait to come back and stay at the Gray Barn again soon!

Situated off Lucas Turnpike near Rt 209 between Woodstock and New Paltz, the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary provides lodging on the 150 acre property. An overnight stay includes comfortable accomodations, snacks, beverages, and a full vegan breakfast in the morning. We arrived just before 3pm check in time and followed the instructions for self check in provided by email. All doors are key coded for easy access. The Gray Barn Inn is big, beautiful, and clean. With lots of scenic views from each room of the valley below there is no bad room in the 5 guest room lodge with common area. Books and games are available for entertainment as well as guest passes provided to tour the farm sanctuary. Wifi is also available with password protected guest log-in. We toured the property before dark then headed to downtown Woodstock for dinner. Enjoy conversation with guests in the common area and feel free to bring vegan snacks or beverages of your own. Quiet hours are between 10pm to 8am. An amazing cruelty-free breakfast is served at 8:30-9:30am and prepared by the friendly and amazing Gray Barn staff. At 10am a personal tour is provided to meet with the farm animals and learn their stories of rescue. Overall I highly recommend the Gray Barn Inn. The money received during guest stays at the Inn is used to benefit care of and feeding the rescued animals at the farm sanctuary. An amazing and memorable experience

Very positive and memorable stay! Our host was very accommodating and gave us an amazing tour. She also made the most awesome vegan breakfast ever! I was not even a vegan before then but the food was so yummy. I‘m convinced and dedicated to change my eating lifestyle after this stay (eating vegan for 3 days in a row now). Jackie the goat, Earl the cat and Meredith the cow were my favorite pals during the tour. Lindsey and I cant wait next year to come back and stay for another weekend!

Amazing Second Visit at The Gray Barn!!

This was our second stay at the Gray Barn and we had another wonderful experience! We cannot say enough about the setting, the accommodations, the animals, and the people who make this a magical place. Leigh is an amazing, kind, and warm host who not only makes an incredible vegan breakfast, but provides a very informative tour with many opportunities to interact with the animals. Furthermore, staying at the Gray Barn supports the sanctuary and the animals who call it home. We will return again and again!

Relaxing and beautiful!

Thank you for an amazing experience. The barn, room and location were tranquil and rejuvenating! The breakfast was the best I have had. The tour was up close and personal and a great way to end my stay.

You are in for a treat!

Where do I start? The Gray Barn is a gorgeous retreat nestled in the woods. Just steps away from the Woodstock Sanctuary, home to many rescued farm animals. The accommodations are beyond comfortable with Tuft and Needle mattresses(yes I asked, I slept that well), parachute pillows(never heard of them but like laying on a marshmallow). And the breakfasts, well lets just say if you're not vegan, you may be convinced to try by the time you leave. We had a delicious tofu scramble with an apple crumble one morning and avocado toast with chia seed cherry pudding the next. Leigh is not only the sweetest hostess but a phenomenal guide for your tour. I've been to other sanctuaries and this is among the best. Don't miss it.

Reconnect with the natural world

A magical place with gorgeous views of nature! The room was clean and the pillows were so comfy I decided to buy some for myself! Breakfast was scrumptious! I met the Gray Barn kitty and we hung out for a while on the porch. Stay here and you will actually feel the tension leaving your body. And definitely take the sanctuary tour - nothing better in the world than connecting with beautiful animals!
